Betulinic acid is extracted from the bark of Betula Alba, it is a naturally occurring pentacyclic triterpenoid which has antiretroviral, antimalarial and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as a more recently discovered potential as an anticancer agent, by inhibition of topo isomerase.
