Orthosiphon contains calcium sulfate, calcium and potassium salts of unknown organic acids, volatile oil, saponin, pentose, hexose, glucuronic acid and meso-inositol etc. Sinensetin is a natural polymethoxylated flavone found in orthosiphon leaf extract, has potent antiangiogenesis activity and enhances adipogenesis and lipolysis. According to relevant records, orthosiphon extract can help anti-inflammation. It is mainly used to treat acute and chronic nephritis, cystitis, urinary calculi and rheumatoid arthritis.
