Introduction

UV radiation can cause oxidative damage and inflammation of the skin. Scutellaria baicalensis (SR, the root of Scutellaria baicalensis georgi) contains flavonoids, which have high UV absorption capacity and antioxidant property. It has strong UV absorption ability in the range of 320nm-400nm (UV-A), which can provide skin protection and prevent skin sunburn.

It also can promote the skin metabolism, increase skin elasticity and wrinkle resistance, then achieve anti-aging effect. Current studies have shown that the free radical scavenging activity of flavonoids in scutellaria baicalensis is closely related to the amount and structure of phenolic hydroxyl group. Baicalin has obvious scavenging effects on superoxide free radicals and protect skin cells from excessive oxidation of oxygen free radicals.

Application

1. It can inhibit a variety of skin pathogenic fungi, and has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects.

2. Absorption of UV, has a certain repair effect on sunburned skin.

3. It has antioxidant effect.
